AK Wine Grotto

July Wine Club 2025

Published: July 9, 2025

Split Rail winery is propagated by the minds of a new generation of drinker.

"We create wine that is spawned from whimsy and redolent of the soil that we all stand upon.
Our winery emerged from a fervent belief in supporting regional agriculture, creating Idaho-centric products, exploring new wines and wine styles, and an unfettered love for drinking, eating and debauchery.
We are a small-production winery that hand-makes all of our wine from fruit sourced from vineyards in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho and Washington.
Our goal is to seek the best fruit possible to make the style of wines we love to drink.
We practice minimal intervention winemaking to highlight our fruit, and we love to explore unconventional aging and production techniques to create plonk that is both exciting and distinctive.
Let us bring the farm to your glass; bring Northwest soil to your lips."

Split Rail "Just Another Rainbow" Grenache
Sometimes we forget to see the diamonds that life deals us.
We don't stop and look at the sky or the horizon.
But once we do, we see all the leprechauns and gold and gemstones reflected across the electromagnetic spectrum. The rare beauty balancing right there on our mustaches.
Grenache is one of those pearls of light.
It is the jeweled goblet of raspberry rain nestled just beneath your raincloud.
Almost within reach, it's there beholding all the luck and treasures we often forget to see!

Split Rail Dry Rosé of Grenache
Bone DRY with a super pink summertime shimmer, wicked tropical fruit character, and a rippin' tidal wave of oceanic brightness.
Get it before the sun does!

Split Rail Gris Gris White

Gris Gris is a Talisman of luck.
An Alsatian blend of 70% Muscat Blanc and 30% Riesling, born from the Snake River Valley.
Hiding under this striped swimsuit is a floral, crisp and endlessly quaffable white wine
that will please the masses.
This is your new every day, patio-pounding, luck charm that you can take everywhere!

Gooseberry Wine
Glacier Bear Winery, Alaska
"Our Gooseberries are primarily sourced from the Homer area with about 10% of them being estate grown berries.
We partner with local growers to optimize harvest times and preferred varieties.
This vibrant wine has alluring aromas of grapefruit and pineapple.
Its bracing acidity is obvious as soon as it hits the palate and the flavor is thick with earth tones like rosemary and truffles. The unique finish has a light flavor of fresh spruce tips."

Blend: 100% Gooseberry
Sweetness: Medium-Dry
Alcohol: 14%
Suggested Serving Temp: 60 F

Suggested Pairings: fresh halibut, chorizo, chicken parmesan, feta salad

We are excited to offer this exclusive wine as part of your July Wine Club!

A Family Name, A Family Label
"Schooler Nolan is a family label backed by our family name,
Schooler is my mother's maiden name, Nolan is our last name.
Our grapes are sourced from Red Mountain and Horse Heaven Hills because we feel these are the two premier grape growing regions in Washington state. We have not always been in the winery business but we have always been in the hospitality business.
After serving patrons at our restaurants in Homer, Alaska for 25 plus years the old man thought there was a better way to spend the winter, so out of Alaska and into Washington wine country!
While opening our Fat Olives Restaurant in Richland, my father worked a crush on Red Mountain and the rest is history…"

White Noise is the maniacal fuzz and hissss that penetrates the radiowaves of your mind.
It’s the hazy cloud of swirling fizz that beats to no drum or click of the dial; it is the stationary, un-station.
Pétillant Naturel, also lovingly known as Pét-Nat, is Riesling force-fed into a bottle during the end of its fermentation. The result is a naturally sparkling, low sulfur, unfiltered wine that lives, in infinite frequency, in the bottle.
It’s the soft sshhhh that quiets your unwanted noise...
