This region is home to the world's most important area for the growing of cork. The harvest of one mature tree provides sufficient bark to produce about 4,000 wine bottle corks! Wines from Alentejo are popular for their excellent red blends consisting of several different varietals you’ll notice in your January Wine Club! *Touriga Nacional: also known as Cabernet Sauvignon *Touriga Franca: also known as Cabernet Franc *Aragonez/Tinta Roriz: also known as Tempranillo (Spain). *Alicante Bouschet (cross of Petit Bouchet and Grenache): adds balance, fruitiness and color for blending. *Trincadeira: full-bodied and rich, with aromas of blackberries, herbs and flowers. Quid Pro Quo Red Blend A rich, solid blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Syrah and Alicante Bouschet. A truly fragrant and aromatic wine, bursting with lavender and violet notes! With an indulging, deep ruby color, oak barrel aging and complexity that can be appreciated by all! This full-bodied red is perfect to enjoy now or age on! *90 pts, WE Monte Velho Aragonez 40% Trincadeira 35%Touriga Nacional 20% Syrah 5% A wine for all occasions!With a balanced and gastronomic profile, it portrays the best aromas and flavors of Alentejo grapes! Loaded with black fruit, wild berries and subtle notes of fresh spices. Intense and rich with a solid structure and persistent finish! Esporao Assobio, Douro Touriga Nacional 40% Tinta Roriz 30%Touriga Franca 30% At the Edge of the Murças boundaries in Covelinhas, steep slopes form a valley where the wind whistles. It is from the vineyards like these, northern-facing at high altitudes, that this wine is produced.Crafted from the region’s traditional grape varieties and partially aged in used French oak casks for 6 months, this is a fresh, versatile and food-friendly wine.Notes of blackberry, black plum, rosehip, black olive, red currant and black cherry.This Touriga-Nacional led red blend is deep purple in color with a pleasing midpalate concentration, smooth tannins and a lengthy finish! Ciconia Vihno Verde Fresh & crisp! Aromas of tropical fruits and white flowers. Pair with fish, seafood and sushi! This wine's sweet fruitiness has tangy peach and passion fruit flavors.A slight edge of talc makes this a pleasantly leesy white to ice down for shellfish. Adega Cartuxa EA White Blend Roupeiro 50% Antão Vaz 35%Arinto 15%Citrine colored with greenish reflections. Bright, intensely aromatic with fresh cut herbs, mineral notes and light floral tones.
